Hartley Taylor have spent more than 15 years supporting and working with BIA.  Initially managing the Association’s medical events and meetings, now also providing a dedicated secretariat support service delivered from an office in Knutsford, led by Jo Wheeler.

BIA is a registered charity run by a 20 strong members Council with over 1500 members in total.  Membership is made up of medical professionals, academics, trainees and associates working in infectious diseases and microbiology from all areas including clinical practice, laboratory medicine, public health, research or education.  Membership fees apply.

The Association exists to promote the science and practice of medicine in relation to infection, offering support to all infection specialists, trainees and associates actively encouraging further research.  BIA offer annual educational meetings, free of charge to members. BIA advise and review standards in infection & guideline development.

BIA is one of the 4 major medical infection societies that make up the Federation of Infection Societies (FIS) which host a world recognised medical conference held annually in the UK and hosted in rotation by the main societies.
